Video Instructions

Video coming soon!

What you need

  • 16 “Rock” cards
  • 16 “Paper” cards
  • 16 “Scissors” cards
  • Someone to play with

Note

You can use a regular deck of cards for this. I use:

  • Diamonds = Rock
  • Hearts = Paper
  • Spades = Scissors

Do what makes sense for you!

Setup

Divide each of the types of cards evenly between both players so that both players have 8 Rock, 8 Paper, and 8 Scissors cards. Both players will then shuffle their 24 card decks and draw the top 3 cards to form their first hand

How to Play

The game is played in a series of rounds until one player is no longer able to draw a new hand of 3 cards at the end of a round at which point that player is knocked out and their opponent wins.

At the start of each round, both players will select one of the three cards in their hand. Both players will reveal their selected card at the same time and then determine which player wins based on the standard rules of Rock, Paper, Scissors. (i.e. rock beats scissors, scissors beats paper, paper beats rock.)

If there is a tie (eg. both players choose “Rock”) then the round continues and both players choose another card in their hand, and reveal that one simultaneously. If there is still a tie after all three cards are revealed, then both players will place all three of their cards in their discard pile and draw a new hand of 3 cards from the top of their deck to start the next round.

The winner of the round will pick the card(s) they played back up and keep their hand for the next round. The winner does not need to start the next round with the same card(s), but they might.

Oooh… mind games!

The loser of the round will place the card(s) they played and any cards remaining in their hand face down in their discard pile, and draw a new hand of 3 cards from the top of their deck to start the next round.

Play continues in rounds until one player is unable to draw a hand of 3 cards at which point their opponent wins!

Store Downloads (Coming soon!)

I have created a PDF version of these rules that you can download from my Ko-Fi Store! It’s free to download, and if you enjoy the game (and can afford it), it would be lovely if you could help support me in making more games.

I also created some print and play files that you can purchase to create your own cards to play with.
